Allison Himes, a Marshall University graduate, has been a part of many exciting musical endeavors throughout her career. As a locally known singer/performer Allison has auditioned and been asked to perform in multiple events in the Tri-State area. She has been featured in many community theater productions such as the role of Portia in Roger & Hammerstein's Cinderella and Junie B. Jones in Junie B. Jones The Musical. She has participated in the Young Performers Contest and has also taken part in many choirs and ensembles such as the Rockin' Ravens Show Choir and Concert Choir and the Marshall University Chamber Choir. Allison looks forward to any new and exciting opportunities that will help her learn and grow in her musical journey, including El Coro.
Sarah Lindberg has been performing as a vocalist since the age of 8. Primarily singing in church as a soloist, cantor, and choir member, Sarah has also performed in numerous community events throughout her life. In addition, Sarah was a member of the Marshall University Chamber Choir in Huntington, West Virginia. Sarah is a teacher in the Cabell County School System where she currently teaches 5th grade. Sarah is mom to Josh and stepmom to Alex and Will. Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, Anders, her family, her friends, and her dog, Blueberry. Sarah’s hobbies include cooking, gardening, and working out.
Bethany Himes, a musical specialist in the Tri-State area, grew up singing in a gospel group with her parents, the Page Family. She graduated from Marshall University with a music education degree and has served as a music specialist in WV and Ohio schools for the past 20 years. Bethany has starred in several community theater productions and has directed children’s musicals and choirs in several churches of the Huntington area. Bethany’s greatest roles are wife and mother to 2 beautiful girls, and her highest of callings, princess to the King of Kings. John 1:12
Amy Bare started singing in children's choir at church and has since been involved with Madrigal Singers in high school, college choirs and most recently the Jewel City Singers, Musical Arts Guild, Huntington Symphony Chorus, Thundertones Barbershop Chorus. Amy has also participated in musical theater with Huntington Area Regional Theater. She played a Who in Seussical the Musical, Mama Bear in Shrek the Musical, and was in the Ensemble in The Little Mermaid. Most of her time is spent playing with her two-year-old son and homeschooling her two daughters. She is thrilled to be able to share this musical opportunity with her husband, Michael.
Matthew Moore has been a professional choral conductor, vocalist and church musician for more than twenty-five years. Matthew began his musical studies at Morehead State University and went on to major in Vocal performance and Organ Performance at the prestigious University of Michigan School of Music, studying organ with Marilyn Mason and voice with Metropolitan Opera Tenor George Shirley. Having served in both Protestant and Catholic large-membership congregations, Matthew’s choirs have toured nationally and performed major choral works with local orchestras. As a soloist, Matthew has performed concerts and recitals in several states as well as conducting and singing with professional and semi-professional choral ensembles in Detroit, Santa Fe, Louisville and Huntington.
Michael Bare began performing as a child in church choirs as well as the Northwest Indiana Youth Chorus. He earned a BA in Theology and Music from Appalachian Bible College and a MA in Music from Marshall University. Since graduating he has performed with the Jewel City Singers, Musical Arts Guild, Huntington Symphony Chorus, Renaissance, Thundertones Barbershop Chorus, Minor Differences, Mountain Harmony, and with the Huntington Area Regional Theater. He played Horton the Elephant in Seussical the Musical, Shrek in Shrek the Musical, and was the music director for The Little Mermaid and he was Mr. Krabs in The SpongeBob Musical. He music directed All Together Now, a world-wide fundraiser for First Stage Theatre Company. He has had the opportunity to perform in Hungary, Portugal, Spain, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. He is so thankful for the opportunities he has been given as a soloist and music clinician. When Michael isn’t singing, he is usually reading, spending time with his family, or putting together Legos.
Dan Kistler is a recent transplant to the Tri-State region. Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dan started singing in middle school and continued through High school. Singing with the Concert and Acapella choirs, he was selected for State honors choir three years, appearing with the SATB and TTBB choirs. He did not sing again until the 90's when he joined a community theatre group and served on the board for 5 years. He spends his time now with his wife and son in Huntington and travels back to Michigan often to visit with his other 4 children who range in age from 20-35.
John Washington Is a Huntington, WV native and attended Wheeling University majoring in chemistry. When he is not singing he spends his time playing disk golf, hiking, playing the guitar, and playing with his cats.
Matthew and Michael had wanted to form a small ensemble and in 2022 we made that dream a reality. Our first concert was part of Saint Joseph Catholic Church's 150th anniversary celebration. El Coro members were Allison Himes, Sarah Nichols, Julia Williams, Amy Bare, Matthew Moore, Michael Bare, Dan Kistler, and John Washington.
In 2023 members included Allison Himes, Sarah Lindberg, Debby Willis, Amy Bare, Matthew Moore, Michael Bare, Dan Kistler, and John Washington.
In 2024 members included Allison Himes, Sarah Lindberg, Bethany Himes, Amy Bare, Matthew Moore, Michael Bare, Dan Kistler, and John Washington.
